Training outline:

What’s New for Education in iOS 10.3, macOS Sierra 10.12.4 and tvOS 10.

  • Do more with Classroom 2.0

    • With the enhanced Classroom app for iPad there are more ways to guide learning, share work and manage student devices. Now teachers can invite students to join a class on their own, send and receive documents, and mute devices. Students can also send documents to their teacher’s iPad. With Classroom 2.0, a Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution is not required.

  • Deploy and manage Apple TV at scale

    • tvOS adds new features that make it simple to configure an Apple TV for common school scenarios — from classrooms and libraries to meeting rooms and registration areas. Apple TV can now be supervised and enrolled in MDM using Apple School Manager. Simply plug in to power and an Ethernet connection, no user input required.

  • Faster ways to set up iPad

    • A new local caching service helps offload traffic from your wireless network, speeding up app and software updates on iPad via USB. This service (part of macOS Sierra) enables Mac computers to share an Ethernet connection with iPad and works with MDM.

  • More management features

    • New MDM commands and restrictions enable schools to start software updates on passcode-protected devices, join only specified Wi-Fi networks, play a sound when iPad is in MDM Lost Mode, and remotely restart or shut down iPad.

  • Updated tools

    • Apple Configurator 2 supports all of the iOS and tvOS payload and restriction updates previously described. In addition, iBooks Author books, EPUB documents and PDFs can now be installed to iBooks on iOS devices with Apple Configurator 2.
